The Thorong La Pass, standing at a staggering 5,416 meters (17,769 feet), is the crown jewel of the Annapurna Circuit Trek. Crossing the pass is both physically demanding and incredibly rewarding, offering unmatched views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs. To cross successfully, you must start your day extremely early (around 3:00 or 4:00 AM) from Thorong Phedi or High Camp to avoid the strong winds that pick up by mid-day. Dress in multiple layers, stay hydrated, walk slowly, and be prepared for cold temperatures. The descent to Muktinath is steep but beautiful, welcoming you with warm meals and local hospitality.
